Designed for all-around fun riding, combining ease of use with forgiving and friendly handling, the Switch matches the needs of progressing kiters and those looking for a comfortable ride. With the new kiter in mind, the progressive single concave provides excellent comfort for a smooth and lively riding experience. Thin rails ensure a clean water release and offer sensationally low drag and easy upwind tracking.

BOARD DETAILS

“The Switch is the longest running Twin Tip design in kiteboarding, going right back to the earliest days of the sport. Legendary designers like Jimmy Lewis and Colin McCulloch have in the past worked on this model. With the 20 years of history it is quite an honour for me to be able to put my own take on this important board in the Airush line up.” – Dave Kay

The Switch is a Freeride model and for many Airush customers it will be their first board. To this end the Switch needs to be EASY, easy to ride, easy to control and easy to get upwind on. It also needs to not limit a rider’s progression, it can’t be a board that you ‘outgrow’ in a short space of time.

The key design points that lead to this ‘easy rider’ style are:

  • Progressive single concave bottom shape, deeper in the middle for lift and upwind ability and flat in the tip to keep this area flexible.
  • Thin Step-down rails for clean water release and low drag.
  • Low rocker for fast planning and easy upwind ability.
  • ‘Mid square’ outline for tracking and stabilityOn the looks – the graphics team has killed it this year too, the exposed wood and colour coded accessories have made it an amazing package.

Simplicity without compromising quality; the Ride Bar is the ideal companion. An easy to use, reliable Aero cleat depower system with a tool-less position adjustment allows for the bar to be quickly and simply set up for riders with shorter reach. The durable EVA-injected bar ends are flexible for an overall better kite response and bar float. Paired with any 4-line kite, the 24m flying lines, Airush IQR, and one-handed release and reset system complies with IKO and BKSA teaching standards with the Low-Y on the center lines, allowing for a quick single line flag out.

BAR DETAILS

The Ride bar has a new leash ring with an oversized connection hole and a new leash that has been greatly simplified to go along with this particular bar system.

Moving up from the IQR, the Ride bar features dual depower main lines with no PU covering. This has been chosen to allow a length of throw adjustment, without tools, using this industry-standard clam-cleat aerocleat fitting. The uncovered main lines also allow for very quick and cost-effective depower mainline replacements when required. These depower main lines go through a new centre fitting made of stainless steel with a much larger cut out for the lines to run through. This allows for much easier articulation and sheeting with these new bars. The Ride bar is a fixed length bar, available in two lengths: 50 centimetres and 60 centimetres.

The Ride bar features new EVA bar ends with a 20 increase in floatation. There’s also much more adjustment available for the rear line leaders under these new EVA bar ends.

The Ride bar also features a new, power bracket, which integrates not only the stopper or the front line and your landing line but also the pulley required for use with the cleat. And finally, there’s a new simplified pull system on the cleat to make this a very simple, very cost-effective solution for a bar.
